EARLOBE SURGERY

Earlobe surgery is a procedure designed to treat earlobes with torn piercings or widened piercings. This procedure is done by addressing the skin of the earlobe. Earlobe surgery can be done for one or both ears. It is a procedure that can be done for children and adults. Ears repaired with earlobe surgery an be re-pierced after healing, if desired. Dr. Aboutanos offers ear piercing and can take special care to ensure you have a symmetrical result that camouflages any residual scarring.

 

How long will the procedure take?

Earlobe surgery typically takes about 30 minutes. In some cases it can be done in the office under local anesthesia.

Where will the incisions be?

The incisions will be along the front and back of the earlobe.

What will recovery be like?

Typically, the immediate recovery is about one to two days. You will receive instructions on how to care for the repair afterwards. You should be able to shower the day after the procedure. The stitches will be removed in 10 to 14 days.

Initially, you should plan to avoid strenuous exercise, contact sports, swimming, heavy lifting, and housework.
